The "neighborhood" is growing with the addition of good neighbor's new plant store: green neighbor. green neighbor, a partnership between celebrated plant stylist Hilton Carter and good neighbor owner/creative director Shawn Chopra, evolved from Hilton being a literal neighbor and frequent customer. Hilton has continually been at the forefront of a worldwide digital plant community as an author, stylist, and teacher. At green neighbor, we meld Hilton's talents and knowledge with Shawn's shared and considered design perspective. Together, they reflect the same sensibility that exists at good neighbor, sourcing interesting local and international plants to pair with beautiful ceramics and distinct containers. green neighbor is in the early stages of a complete renovation. The space will be finalized in the Fall of 2022 and celebrated with a Grand Opening. The fully realized vision of the shop will involve in-person plant workshops, "office hour" consultations, and a plant hotline to get real-time guidance.

For Hilton Carter, it all started with one plant, a fiddle-leaf fig named Frank, to be exact. As he explains in his best-selling book Wild at Home: How to style and care for beautiful plants, his interest in plants started out as purely practical. Since then, he has written and photographed two other best sellers, Wild Interiors: Beautiful plants in beautiful spaces (April 2020) and Wild Creations (April 2021), partnered with Target on the collection Hilton Carter for Target, released his Guide to Houseplants workshops, with the Magnolia Network and most recently opened his first brick and mortar plant shop, green neighbor, in his hometown of Baltimore, MD.
